User Research is not only meant to answer questions, it is also meant to inform specific decisions. In other words, both researchers and stakeholders need to be clear on "What are we going to do with the data collected? How are the insights going to be used?". Appropriate answers can be: "The product team wants to identify the top 3 user scenarios the MVP must support", or "Designers need help deciding what data should be displayed on the product dashboard". Ultimately researchers need a clear "line-of-sight" connecting the studies they conduct, the insights generated and a tangible impact on a product or service.
