Since the early days of my career in 1997, creating websites has been orbiting my centers of interest. Several tools and trends have affected my work
- HTML only websites, hand-coded with the text editor of the moment
- HTML + CSS, still hand-coded
- Macromedia Dreamweaver: produced decent code and was integrated with Fireworks allowing you to export slices and page layouts
- Blogger: Democratized the creation of online journals, offering a wysiwyg interface to easily publish content.
- PHP + MySQL: Client-side script and data-bases allowed designers to boldly jump from static or semi-dynamic websites to proper web applications
- Wordpress: A free, turn-key, customizable Content Management System who took the market by storm, supporting both the creation of simple blogs and complex e-commerce websites
- Flat-file CMS: Turned off by the growing complexity of Word-press, I turned to flat-file solutions.
